As the feedlings take a wing to
explore the vast sky of possibilities
and creating a niche for their own dwelling
I look around and stare at my nest
Which is not echoing with the chirps
and chatters anymore
It is silence and still,
frozen in the moment of departure
I look at every wall, the roof and the floor
suddenly a voice buried within implored
my nest is not empty, it is just vacant
to welcome and accommodate new occupants
that were kept at bay when responsibilities
were in forefront
a halted hobby, a lingering leisure
a shelved social synergy, a paused playfulness
all of these and many more yet to explore
My nest is now open to greet these new companions
as the old ones move a wee bit away from
sight but a lot more closer to heart
I look at my new found self and smile
